Harmony Airways is no more functioning as an airline in the world
Harmony Airways came into being in Founded 2002 and with a working span of only five years, the airline stopped functioning as an airline. During its active professional career, the airline did not have the image of a larger airline company. It was of very moderate size and remained restricted to a specific area of its flight operations. Harmony Airways had only three aircrafts in its fleet. They were Boeing 757-200, and Boeing 737-800. The size of the fleet is enough to highlight the working scale of the airline and its professional status. It had only nine destinations in its network. Harmony Airways operated its flights from its hub Vancouver International Airport. But unlike many regional airline companies of the world, Harmony Airways traveled to far-off destinations from its home country Canada to Mexico, Las Vegas, Nevada and Manchester. The airline did not offer commercial passenger flights. It operated only recreational and tour flights to its specific destinations.
At the outset of its career, the airline was called HMY Airways but later on the name was replaced by Harmony Airways. There was no board of directors or partnerships in the airline’s ownership. It was under the ownership of only one man named David Ho. At its closure, Harmony Airways was owned by its parent company named HMY Airways Inc and this business enterprise has also stopped its working. Dr. David T.K. Ho was constantly the president of Harmony Airways while Kirk Henderson worked for a certain period as the interim president of the airline. Harmony Airways operated its headquarters at Vancouver, British Columbia - Canada. Owing to some business problems of the company, Harmony Airways declared in 2007 its decision of closing its flights. The company also announced its intentions of initiating charter flights but so far as the company has not taken any step in this regard. In the wake of oil prices-hike, the airline suffered heavily. There were also some basic flaws in the structure of Harmony Airways which played a vital role in its closure. The airline had Boeing 757and Boeing 737-800 planes which consumed a lot of fuel, unaffordable for the airline’s smaller flights. It gradually increased a huge deficit between profit and expense of the airline. The planes of Harmony Airways had only 171 seating capacity and the airline was not in financial position to replace its planes or buy new ones to be added to its fleet. Harmony Airways’ competitor airline Cathay Pacific also played a significant role in the downfall of the airline by lowering its airfares on certain routes and giving the airline a tough competition. Moreover, there were also mistakes on the part of the airline’s administration in changing its destinations from one to another. Hence, the airline failed to establish a regular clientele for its planes. The end result of all these factors appeared in the form of airline’s closure.
Harmony Airways maintained a thorough website for the sake of its customers. It had all the information which the travelers want to know about an airline. The website also provided online booking arrangement for the airline’s tour packages. |
